Ever want to know how people actually fought with swords? Want to try swordfighting yourself? Join us for an evening demo and class on the Art of the Duel with Boston Academie d'Armes!
Participants will watch a few short fencing demonstrations with the rapier, saber, and dueling sword. They will then be given a crash course on swordfighting with sword in hand -- everything from stance and movements, to offense, defense, and a few fun special actions. At the end, participants will be able to partake in low-key dueling simulations. The event will be led by Justin Aucoin, founder of Boston Academie d'Armes and certified Instructor at Arms.
Boston Academie d'Armes is a historical and classical fencing school in the Greater Boston area offering both group and private lessons to beginners and seasoned fencers alike. We focus on the art of the duel with the rapier, dueling sword, saber, and Italian foil, studying fencing manuals from the 17th through 19th centuries. Whether you’re looking to compete in historical fencing, live out your childhood dreams of being a Musketeer or duelist, or just hoping for a fun way to get some exercise, we’re happy to train with you!
